When visiting Las Vegas, the focus on gambling may be at an all time high for you, but for me food is still the main focus. With all the adventures we got into, nourishment was a must. Now we know Vegas has a plethora of restaurants to choose from, one may even become overehelmed at the choices. Not me though; Virgil’s was an easy choice.

Located at the LINQ Promenade on Las Vegas Blvd sits a brick restaurant dishing out bomb ass barbeque and drinks to match. Virgil’s was established in 1994 and has since become a staple in Vegas. It’s a few steps from North America’s largest Ferris wheel, the High Roller, which will put you over 500 feet in the air. There is ample outdoor seating on both levels. You can even look up and see people zip lining overhead. There’s a lot going on in a good way. Inside you’ll find a full bar, exposed brick walls and a stage for daily live music.
Okay about the food, the menu is vast but I had to get the favorites. I started with the Trainwreck Fries. These fries consisted of melted cheddar, jack cheese, smoked applewood bacon, jalepenos, ranch and scallions. These aren’t your typical bacon cheese fries, these are on a higher level. The cheese to fry ratio was perfect and the jalepenos gave the right amount of spice. What’s a better appetizer when drinks are involved anyway?

After enjoying some top notch cheesy fries to help soak up the alcohol the bbq chicken wings came out. Now I want you to imagine your favorite place to get smoked wings and I want you to replace that place with Virgil’s. This is clearly a favorite for a reason. Virgil’s famous smoked wings are tossed in hot sauce and served with blue cheese dip. The flavor is all up and through these wings and they aren’t dried out at all. You can tell they smoked the chicken for hours with the right seasonings. They look as good as they tasted.

We couldn’t come to Virgil’s and not visit the drink menu. Drinking and Vegas go hand in hand. Virgil’s has an overabundance of drinks so it may take you a while to decide on one. When this happens, it’s best to order two! My first drink was the Watermelon Margarita. Made with corralejo tequila, cointreau, fresh muddled watermelon and lime juice. The bartender knew what they were doing with this one. It was shaken perfectly and everything flowed together making this a highly refreshing beverage. The second drink was called Hawaiian BBQ mixed with malibu rum, pineapple juice, blue curaçao and lime juice. Another delightful combonation. These might sneak up on you so be ready.

Virgil’s understood the assignment when it came to the smoked meats, the cheese fries and the nicely blended drinks. It’s no wonder this is a place tourists frequent. It’s at a pristine location on the strip and you’ll surely find your next adventure close by. If you want some Carolina, Memphis, or Texas style bbq in Vegas, Virgil’s is the place to be.
