If you’ve ever been to the DMV area you know you’re in for some bomb ass seafood. With the Atlantic Ocean and Potomac River so close it’s a given to have fresh crabs and shrimp on the regular.
While visiting the area I happened to come across Seafood Boils by Mika via Instagram. This Black owned business caters and offers delivery and pickup service for bags and pans. She’s located in Southeast DC and accepts pre orders via DM on Instagram with same day orders available at an extra fee. Established in January 2021, Mika’s seafood boils have acquired much praise from customers. If you live in the area I’m certain you’ll be a repeat customer.
I couldn’t be simple and just get one seafood boil. I had to get whole pans and I’m so glad I did. Mika exceeded my expectations. Her boils are “Home of the Sassy Blend” and this sauce takes finger licking to a new level. The pan came with crab legs, shrimp, fresh corn, pork sausage (turkey is also available), boiled eggs and potatoes. Let’s get back to the sauce though, this homemade sauce is made with honey, garlic and lemon pepper.and it is smacking’ for real. Each piece of food is coated with seasoning and sauce and it’s different from the other boil places you’re used to.
Seafood Boils by Mika will be a household name in the DMV at the rate she’s going. Her customers are already forgetting about the local restaurants like Hot and Juicy or Hook and Reel. Both of those places bring in a lot of traffic so the fact that her customers are bypassing them says a lot! What could be another reason to support a small black owned business? The price! Unlike most seafood places, especially those offering boils, you’ll be able to feed a family of four for under $100. Tell me where you’re getting this amount of food for that price, don’t worry I’ll wait. Mika’s food is like that and you can tell it’s cooked with love.
