It’s time for our favorite meal between breakfast and lunch, brunch! While in Jacksonville, Florida I had to see what the hype is about Brix Taphouse. This is the place to be if you want to enjoy bottomless mimosas and inexpensive breakfast food options. Did I mention bottomless mimosas??
Brix Taphouse is a restaurant locals see on the regular and tourists love to visit. They are located inside a brick building offering and offer an in and outdoor full bar. Seating is ample with an outdoor patio as well. Brix likes to call the ambiance casual upscale and it’s just that. Brix is also in close proximity to the beach so there’s another reason to go.
Daily food and drink specials are available and it’s no wonder they stay packed. Brix is also open late to serve those with after hour cravings. On Fridays and Saturdays they stay open until 2am. Don’t worry, they’re open til midnight any other night.
Alright, let me explain why I’m here. Brix Taphouse claims to have these famous wings so of course I had to try them. They’re simply called Brix Wings but the flavor is anything but simple. They call the glaze Howler Monkey Amarillo and whatever is in that sauce needs to be bottled! It complemented the wings very well. You can get a ten count grilled or fried served with cucumber ranch.

Next on my list was the breakfast tacos. They consist of three tacos filled with ribeye, eggs, pico and queso cheese. You can get grits, potatoes or fruit as a side. The eggs are what set this aside from being a regular steak taco but all the flavor from the ribeye take this to the next level. It’s perfect to soak up some of those bottomless mimosas.

I also tried the Red Pepper Hummus. This housemade hummus is topped with roasted cauliflower, figs, candied pecans and a balsamic glaze. The toppings set the hummus off and the pita chips were very enjoyable.

To follow up the hummus I had the Mayport Boomers. Brix tosses crispy shrimp in a bangin’ sweet and spicy cream sauce. Bonefish Grill who? The shrimp were savory and a nice size.

Lastly, I had the garlic fries. These fries were so good and seasoned with the perfect amount of garlic. These come with ranch. I got some ketchup too. Now these were definitely a help in soaking up the champagne.

While enjoying all this delectable food I took part in the bottomless champagne. You can get pineapple, cranberry, grapefruit and of course orange juice. I had them all and was feeling pretty nice throughout the entire dining experience.
Brix Taphouse is a fun spot to get some good drinks and not spend a lot on food that will fill you up. You can appreciate the breeze while sitting on the outdoor patio with multiple tvs throughout the restaurant. I highly recommend stopping here if you’re in Jacksonville, Florida.
