Atlanta is the home of the Georgia Peach. Peaches are used to make pies, cobblers, jellies etc. I bet ya’ll did not know that they had a restaurant that has cuisine with Louisiana inspiration. Lousiana Bistreaux has a full menu that includes seafood, gumbo, Jambalaya and more.
The drink menu is short but oh so sweet. I decided to try the ATL Old Fashioned and Sazerac. The ingredients were foreign to me but ya’ll know I like to try new drinks. The ATL had bourbon, simple Syrup, a splash orange juice and Angostura Bitters. Before ya’ll say WTF, let me explain what is Angostura Bitters. Bitters are generally made from roots, herbs, and fruits and dissolved in alcohol. They help balance alcohol and facilitating the digestive system. As awful as the name sounds, they actually do some good for those of us who are moderate or heavy drinkers. The Sazerac had pretty much the same ingredients. Instead of Bourbon it had Whiskey. Instead of Angostura Bitters it had Peychaud’s Bitters. Both drinks were very delightful in taste and smell.

I had to eat some fried Catfish. The dish was called Fried Catfish PO Boy. Basically, a fish sandwich. It served on French bread with a delicious orange sauce called Remoulade. The catfish was so big I could not finish it. I also had Shrimp Etouffee. Again, a dish with a strange name but a good taste. Etouffee means suffocated so the sauteed shrimp covered with sauce and rice. Everything was so delicious and filling. I could not eat everything, so I had lunch for the next day.

Let’s not forget the dessert menu. Since I was there, I might as well get one to go. I got the bourbon bread pudding. I never in my life tasted something so delicate and sweet. I give props to the staff at this restaurant for bringing the seasons and tastes of NOLA to Georgia.
Lousiana Bistreaux has three locations in Georgia. If you are coming in by plane there is one near the airport in East Point. The other locations are in Decatur and Atlanta. So if ya’ll are every in those areas make sure you hit up this incredible restaurant. You will not be disappointed.
