Biscuit Babies

I’m sure most of us remember eating biscuits growing up alongside bacon, eggs, sausage, etc. Some of us may have even been lucky enough to have steak or country ham thrown in there too. Regardless if you grew up on biscuits or not, you need to hit up Denver Biscuit Company and expand your horizons. This is not your typical biscuits and gravy joint.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Tennyson location and they did not disappoint. The atmosphere is easy going and filled with unique art decor. There is a neon cowboy behind the bar with yellow seated bar stools. This place is only open 8-2 Monday-Friday and 8-3 on weekends which means it can get busy. Luckily, there are plenty of different types of table and booth seating available. Make sure you wear your mask when entering as it is strictly enforced until being seated.

The menu has many options, all visibly appetizing. One of my choices was the Franklin consisting of buttermilk fried chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese and smothered house-made sausage gravy. I decided to add an egg, good choice. Like I said, these aren’t your ordinary biscuits.

You’d think I’d be done, nah. Next up there’s the Folsom. This deliciousness was constructed with more buttermilk fried chicken, buffalo sauce, bacon, picked celery (a different but practical addition), lettuce, tomato and blue cheese. This biscuit is on a different level.

Lastly, I enjoyed the Beeler and a giant biscuit cinnamon roll. Nashville hot chicken, house-made pickles and ranch dressing. Sounds simple but the flavor was not left behind. That cinnamon roll? The perfect sweet treat to compliment all my previous savory choices.

DBC features a full bar and I was able to sip on a strawberry rhubarb mule that was very agreeable with my food selections. Expect to catch the itis after dining here. You won’t be pressed on when your next meal is as it’s not uncommon to have leftovers. This is a restaurant that’s been featured on different shows on Food Network, Food Paradise, CNN and many others so the clout isn’t there for no reason. I highly recommend adding this to your breakfast/brunch list if you’re in Denver.
