If you ever travel to Lousiville, Kentucky and you have a desire for some Italian food, you gotta go to Grassa Gramma. Although my hometown is known for bourbon, I had to highlight this hidden gem.
The restaurant has incredible ambiance. Lights, waterfalls, statutes the whole nine. Walking through the doors made me feel like I was in Italy. I figured if all of this was before I sat down, the food must be just as good.
Grassa Gramma did not fail to deliver the same type of ambiance on their food dishes. When my food came out I did not even want to touch it as I admired the beauty of it. Of course my mouth started to water so I picked up my fork to try the lump crab fritters (shown above) that were in front of me. The ingredients made me skeptical but ya’ll know I’ll try almost anything.
I have to hand it to the chef. I didnt know what crab remoulade (hell, I didn’t know what half the stuff was on the menu) was until after I ate this amazing dish. It’s a mixture mayo, herbs, capers and some other ingredients that most of us would be turned off from. The dish was awesome! The chef put his foot in this dish (no pun intended)

If you ever go to an Italian restaurant, you know you better have some pasta! It’s like an unspoken rule. I tell ya’ll that the pasta is so think you could drink a straw out of it. I’m a sucker for some good food. And Grassa Gramma did not fail to devliver
You can’t judge food by it’s names. I know it’s hard when you see the name and not what the food looks like. But if you judge and choose not to be open minded, you’ll miss out on some sweet gems! I had the Lump Crab Fritters, Ora King Salmon and Frutti Di Mare. The names were kind of scary but I got over it when it hit my stomach oh so right.
A great ambiance and mouth water food is not complete without a drink. Of course I wanted my drink to match the amazing experience I was having. So I choose to have a good investment. Hell I was I felt made one with the way my soul and stomach was satisfied.
Just like the food, the drinks were amazing. The ingredients not so much. I’m not sure if it’s an Italian thing or if this particular restaurant specialized on flavors and seasoning blending. Now I heard of bourbon and even tasted it since I am from Kentucky. Angel Envy Bourbon was something special. Just the word Angel and Envy in the same sentence tells a story about the drink. It was all good though and I was lit as hell for the rest of the night!
I have to give it up to hometown. We have some bomb ass food places but I never would have thought to find this type of restaurant there. I came. I saw. I ate. I will be back to enjoy some more things off this bomb ass menu! Thanks Grassa Gramma for being an Italian Experience to the people who can’t afford to get to Italy.
